1. Introduction

Fantasy By Numbers ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Worlds Between mobile application ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

This policy applies to users in Canada. When the App is made available internationally, this policy will be updated to reflect applicable requirements in those regions.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information when you use the App:

Account information

• Email address and password (passwords are stored securely by our authentication provider; we do not store plain-text passwords)
• Username and display name
• A unique account identifier

Game and profile data

• Character appearance, stats, inventory, equipment, quest progress, and other in-game progression data
• App settings and profile customization preferences
• Active event layers and party membership

Location data

• GPS coordinates, used to show your position on the in-game map and to detect nearby game content
• When location tracking is enabled and you are in a party, your position may be shared with other party members
• A flag indicating whether location tracking is currently enabled on your device

Session and device data

• Session identifier, platform (Android, iOS, or web), app version, and device identifier
• Used to manage active sessions and to sign you out if your account is accessed on another device

Camera and NFC

• The App requests camera access to scan QR codes and NFC access for in-game interactions on supported devices
• We do not store photos or recordings from your camera

Analytics and diagnostic data

• Basic usage events and error logs to help us improve stability and performance
• Session replay is not enabled for public releases

Locally stored data

• Game settings, cached assets, and progress may be stored on your device to support offline play and faster loading

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Save and sync your game progress across sessions
• Display your position on the map and enable location-based game features
• Enable party features, including optional position sharing with party members
• Process QR and NFC scans to trigger in-game content
• Maintain session security across devices
• Monitor app stability, diagnose errors, and understand basic usage patterns
• Respond to support and privacy requests

4. Location Tracking and Your Choices

Location access is used to place you on the in-game map and to detect nearby content. You can control location sharing within the App at any time:

• Open Settings → Privacy & Location
• Toggle Location Tracking off to stop sharing your position with party members and to disable proximity-based map features that depend on your GPS position

You can also revoke location permission through your device settings. Some location-based features will not work without permission, but you may still use other parts of the App such as QR-triggered interactions.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as needed to operate the App:

• Service providers — We use third-party services for authentication, cloud data storage, analytics, and real-time multiplayer features. These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations.
• Other players — When location tracking is enabled, party members in your group may see your position on the map. Your username and display name are visible to other players in shared multiplayer contexts.
• Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or security of our users or the public.

6. User-Generated Content

The App may allow you to choose a username and display name that are visible to other players. We do not actively moderate all user-generated content.

We plan to offer user-generated layers, where creators can build their own stories, characters, and game content, including uploading custom images. This content is stored on our systems as part of operating those features. User-generated layers are not broadly available to all players by default — access requires an explicit opt-in, such as joining a specific event layer or accepting an invitation from the creator.

If you create or join a user-generated layer, you may encounter content produced by other users. We do not review all creator content before it is made available within an opted-in layer. If you encounter content that violates our terms or is otherwise inappropriate, please contact us at nerds@fbns.ca.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and game data for as long as your account is active. Session data is retained for the duration of your session and for a reasonable period afterward for security purposes. Analytics and error logs are retained only as long as needed for their stated purpose.

8. Your Rights and Account Deletion

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information.

To request account deletion or to exercise any privacy rights, email us at nerds@fbns.ca. We will process verified requests within a reasonable timeframe. Deleting your account will remove your associated game data from our systems, subject to any legal retention requirements.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls on our cloud infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
